A simple fractal animation I did several years ago. Also, this is where my avatar came from.

Like clockwork, the earth spins, over itself, around the sun.
Like clockwork, the sun burns and radiates non-stop.
Like clockwork, the heart thumps the chest.
No clock ticks unpunished.

87 frames, made with Apophysis, resized and animated in GIMP.

11/11/05 Edit: Merged first and last frames for better loop (they're 84 frames now), uploaded larger file.

This particular work is public domain, free to use, modify and distribute.

very very cool. i find fractals in general and Apophysis specifically to be very difficult. how long did it take you to make this? each render must have taken many hours.

Oh, this was made so many years ago that I don't remember clearly how much it took to render. I do remember leaving the PC on the whole night working on it, then coming back in the morning to find out it still had a lot of work to do, but back then my computer wasn't exactly the fastest around. I agree with you, it can be hard to consistently get good results from Apophysis, and this animation was pretty much a lucky accident; the original Apo file was lost to a hard drive crash, but I remember it involving only two triangles and mostly the "disk" variation, then maybe spherical or swirl, I can't remember clearly now. The difficulty in getting good results has long since driven me away from fractal art.

Thanks a lot for the comment!

i'm sorry to hear you stopped making fractals. last time i dabbled with fractals was back in september but i intend to get back to it.
